Orchard House, Concord, MA

by Cristina Hurley of Cristina Hurley Jewelry Design

If you are looking for some easy to get to, fun places to go with the family, or just on your own, take a drive out to Concord, MA. One of the best and most interesting pieces of history can be found there: Orchard House, The home of Louisa May Alcott and her family. She is the author of many wonderful books, including Little Women, which was actually written at Orchard House.

Not only is the drive out there incredibly pleasant, but the house itself, along with the 30 minute house tour, is amazingly beautiful. Most of the pieces in the house are also original pieces which were owned and used by the Alcotts. I took my daughter there this past week (See her in the picture?), along with a visiting relative, and it was a lot of fun for everyone. It was quite educational too.

Not only will you find Orchard house in Concord, but there are many other places to go on the way to make a day of it. Walden Pond, DeCordova Museum, Gropius House, and the Concord Museum are but a few attractions, along with great scenery, dining and shopping.

Get out there this spring and enjoy a great day in Concord, MA!
