The Cloisters, New York City

Kerry Hawkins of Khawkinsphotography

I have always wanted to visit The Cloisters in New York City. The Cloisters is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is a collection of art and architecture of Medieval Europe. The art is from the 9th Century to the 15th Century. The property also, includes beautiful gardens. The architecture of this building is quite wonderful. This was such a peaceful place and it did not disappoint.

  1. My God, this is beautiful.

This reminds me of an amazing house of worship in the Bay Area out in California.

This is so the first stop during my next trip to New York.

  3. The Cloisters is made up of a group of medieval Spanish and French monasteries and cloisters, dis-assembled and re-assembled atop the tallest point on Manhattan island, thanks to Rockefeller money.

It's one of my favorite spots in the world -- I grew up at the bottom of the hill. Also nearby is the Dyckman House, the last surviving Revolutionary Era farmhouse in Manhattan.

Read about The Cloisters, Dyckman House and more great spots like this in a NYC guidebook Peaceful Places NYC, which lists more than 100 spots like this.
