It's Time to Change

by Debbie of Stitchy McYarnpants

Trees do it, some octopi do it, even Peter Brady did it. Change. Like the Brady Kids say, when it’s time to change, you’ve got to rearrange. And that’s what I’ve been doing lately. My apartment is getting a makeover! Now that new lights have been put in and my living room and office are almost done being painted, it’s all about redecorating!

It seems that I joined up with Boston Handmade at the exact right time. I've been poking around a lot online to learn about my fellow members and with the gallery open downtown, I’ve been able to see a of their work in person. And with two upcoming shows (the JP Holiday Fair and Bazaar Bizarre), I plan to do even more shopping! Here are some things that have inspired me.

I’ve already purchase this Matryoshka Folk Art Wall Calendar by Pressbound for my office. I love the simple sweetness and color combination. Plus, it’s always nice to keep track of what day it is.

After spending a few hours in the gallery, I have fallen head over heels for Bumble Belly Designs. Both her wax work wall hangings and the amazing pillows really speak to me. The overlay of wax gives illustrations a dreamy visual texture that you can't help but want to step into.

I think this "Tweet" pillow is going to end up coming home with me, both because I'm on a bird kick at the moment and because I like it as a cheeky nod to Twitter madness.

The Merriweather Council totally has my number. Embroidery, wee little hoops, vintage fabric scraps - all things I luuurve. I love the colors in this set.

Sometimes less is more, especially when it's someting cute. I think smallness adds exponentially to the cuteness, in fact. Such is the case with Kerry Hawkins Mini Hamster Fun. Eeee! This would be the perfect unexpected touch for to my office.

I can't wait until the painting is finished, because then I can start loading up on handmade wonders that abound. Until then, it' s back to window shopping. Or laptop screen shopping. Either way.
