New and Improved….Photos!

by Lynne of cozycottagecreations

Ever since I first opened my Etsy shop in March of 2007, I have wanted a new camera. The camera I had been using was functional, but old. It was our first digital camera – a gift to us when our first daughter was born almost nine years ago so we could capture any and all precious moments and immediately email them to our family. That old camera served it’s original purpose well, yet it wasn’t quite up to the task of product shots for my Etsy shop. I’m thrilled to report that I have finally reached the point where I was able to upgraded to a new camera. It’s a Canon G10, and I’m absolutely in love with it.

It’s amazing to me how with exposure, you develop a critical eye. Initially I didn’t see anything wrong with my photos. I was just happy I could figure out how to get them up onto the computer. Over time though, I could see the difference between those Front Page product shots that just take your breath away, and my own. I wanted each and every photo I took to be worthy of the front page, and to get there, I definitely needed a new camera.

Can you tell which of these product shots is of my new camera and which was taken with the old?

And it’s good for family photos, too, of course. Lately I’ve been carrying this camera with me everywhere, snapping up photos. Here are a few I took recently on a walk in the woods.
