Nursery Decor

By Kiki from All the Numbers

Having 2 new additions in our family, I have spent a lot of time considering how best to turn my studio (AKA the second bedroom) into a nursery. It is an anxiety-provoking line of thought, to say the least, and I often find myself getting sidetracked by the inessentials I'd love to buy them. These are some of my favorites, all by local Boston-based artists.

Mimi Kirchner is so amazingly creative. I dream of the day when my little one is old enough to appreciate one of her masterpieces. Perhaps something like this tattooed circus girl.

And this robot doll is perfect for a boy.

The babies are getting to the point of being able to grab things, so it's almost time for some wooden toys. My favorites are by Tactile Baby. I LOVE this rolling horse. Isn't it cute?

I am a huge fan of whimsy, and these spun cotton circus animals from Vintage by Crystal totally fit the bill. Perfect for a taller bookshelf, they give any kids room a bit of vintage charm.

And for the wall, I am coveting the simple and divine encaustic works of art by BumblebellyDesigns. I think this one is perfect since it's a boy and a girl, but I also love the incorporation of the maps...

But really, I can't buy any of these lovelies until I get the room squared away. *sigh* Anyone want to help?

  2. Items by these artists will definitely be excellent additions to the twins' new room! I have something from each of these creative ladies in my son's room. Check out pics here: http://bostonhandmade.blogspot.com/2010/08/handmade-home.html
